Rolling up new characters

Rolling up Character

The standard method for rolling up a character for this world is 1 of 2 methods, Option 1 is the standard (roll 3 dice and right them straight down, and live with the results) or use the Point-Buy system that was popularized in Never Winter Nights, in this case a 29 point buy in.  All abilities begin at 8, with each additional point up to 14 costing 1 of the 29 points available.  You get to assign your abilities as you see fit within the limits of your 29 points.  Points above 14 cost more.  So getting a character with 3 18s is impossible with a buy in system, but it guarantees that you can ensure a character with all 12s or higher. 15-16 cost 2 points.   17 costs 3 points, 18 costs 4 points and 19 costs 5 points.  There are specific changes to a few feats, Improved Init being the most prevalent, a new way to increase stats each level, something called Hero points in which each character starts with (one) and a severe lack of arcane magic throughout the known Reaches.  No one in the party has ever met a wizard or a spell casting arcane sorcerer.  They are just not prevalent.  But that does not mean someone can't be one, just not normal to have one.

Notable Personalities of the Village

Joseph Lano is the proprietor of the general store.  He is an expert salesman, and generally a very good deal maker.  His prices are fair, and he can access some more rare items then anyone else in town.  His “Connections” are legendary for the people of the Reaches.

Sam BrookFord is a human priest of Balinor.  The hall has improved since the last vassal left the hall 3 years earlier.  Brookford has made headway into the eyes of the people of Kaiyville.

Dawn Tidngs is the long accepted dwarven priest of Arawi for Kaiyville.  The Arawi temple is the biggest, and most frequented temple in Kaiyville.  The temple is well kept, with 3 vassals in training at any given moment.  Dawntidings helped anoint each player character and bless their birth.

GoldFist is new to town, not much is know of him beyond that he is a vassal of Dol Arrah and is a ½ orc.  The Dol Arrah hall has suffered a good deal since he has arrived, with sacrifices and donations down some 85%.  Goldfist is seen praying a great deal beyond the walls of the hall each day outside of town.

Nolesh is the ½ ling proprietor of the only true INN in town.  It is the Red Wood Wardens Inn.  It has 10 rooms, a kitchen, and a small common room where drinks are sometimes served by Nolesh’s wife Myrna.  Nolesh is known by all to be hospitable and fair to the point that some have taken advantage of him over the years.

Mr. Pint is the ½ ling proprietor of the Glenhaven taven.  One of only 2 places to find a good drink in town.  He is a bit gruff, unfriendly, but has regulars because he leaves his clients alone.  Some consider his place a quiet place to get a drink, others shy away because he has the strangest clientele.

Dalin Trueblade is a dwarven male that is a highly skilled artisan.  He owns the legendary Anvir of Harenia and has lived in Kaiyville for half a century making the best horseshos within 100 miles.

Lu Mei is the acting mayor of Kaiyville.  She is half elf, very tall for her gender and race and exceptionally wise.  She does not want the job, but was thrust into it when old mayor vanished last year.

Karl Micha is a 40 year old Male Human, head of militia, and walks with a limp.

GlemShire is and older wood elf sage that offers advice occasionally and lives in the nearby woods.  She is known to sing for the people of Kaiyville each spring.

The Rangers of the Wood. are led by Baron Roy and his 3 lieutenants named Chad, Chister, and Johan
