The Adventure began the day of the Festival of the Everlasting Host. The festival has 10 events.
The party, as militia members got to participate in the events. The events were won by
Spear Throwing Won by Lorelei
Spear Throw Won by Reico
Sling throw Won by Aleanan
Sling throw Won by Reico
Spear lift and balance on finger Won by Broddur

The party competed, and helped the Sigilstar clan rule the day, with 4 wins, the most in a very long time for
the Elven house. Reico won 4 events for the Talheat clan, and overall did not get the Host Crown, given to those
that win 5 events in a single year. This did not sit well with Reico. Partying occured and much levity
was had by all, or most.
In the morning, a messenger rode into town, telling of a great storm that was coming. The storm warning
was soon followed by an attack at the gate walls, and repelled by the guards from the militia 7. The
party captured a goblin and soon took notice of the large advancing army of the goblins. Lorelei interogated
the captured goblin in Goblinspeak and was harrassed and threatened by Broddur. Soon a massive army came over the
horizon, and darkness began to fill the sky.

The basics
of each militiamen and the rules that they go by are listed below.
Generic Militia Guidelines
The militia consists of 100 volunteers that each clan submits at minimally 5 members every year to serve. The immediate village contains 600 people, but another 1500 live nearby and submit
to the militia. Of the 2100 total people available by home, 100 serve in this
roll. The count includes 2100 homes.
The training consists of 3 weeks of intense spear, shield and village defense.
The 100 serve in blocks of 25 each month. 5 militiamen are ‘on duty’
at all times. 10 are ‘on’ during times of stress. Extra duty is put in occasionally when fears of invasion begin to rise.
A large horn in the village is kept in the keep to summon militiamen. It
can be heard for 3-5 miles. There are other horns that can relay the call
out another 5 miles very quickly in succession, and the entire community participates in this early response system.
3 rings of black smoke can be burned as well when a horn is not available.
But the head of the militia owns a second horn that is smaller, but when activated (it is a magic item) can be heard
for nearly 10 miles in all directions. It has only been blown once in the 130
year history of the village, and that was done as a prank. The horn is limited
in charges, and so the prank was dealt with harshly.
There are 5 militiamen in the village at all times, the captain of the militia has 2 paid lieutenants. The captain is Karl Micha and his 2 lieutenants are Janar Gloin the dwarf and Thondred
Sigilstar an elf. The other 100 serve in shifts. The shifts are in 10 hour shifts. They rotate on schedules. There are patrols that travel in a 3 mile radius of the village. The patrols are in groups of 2 or 4. The patrols carry torches
at night, or lanterns if they can afford them. They carry their shield and spear
normally in the summer. In winter, they often wear furs and carry only their
spears.
The militiamen soldier gains bonuses for use of the spear in the Morreldeen Bay area, as well as a bonus for defending
the village with a spear. During the festivals, (typically done between militiamen
block shifts when one group of 25 is going off and a new one comes on for the month)
In an emergency, all of the active militiamen can easily be brought to the village for defense and in a pinch, old
timers can be activated. The bonus of the spear in Morreldeen Bay is a reach
of 1. Fighting in the village circle is with a reach of 1, and a +2 to hit. Inside the village square itself is a +2 to hit and +2 to damage.
Rules
The captain is the head commander and his 2 lieutenants are his 2 training commanders. Thondred is the expert spear thrower, and Janar is The Lance master.
The 3 lead a well organized volunteer militia. They pride themselves on
providing quality applicants to the Rangers of the Wardens of the Wood. No one
enters the militia and stays for long without a decent ability to fight.
The rules are pretty basic, keep
order, call for backup in the event of any disturbance. If you cannot reach a
commander, go to a council member for their help. Use your whistle to summon
help if needed. Always have your partner nearby.
If you see orcs, goblins, denaug, tog or lizardmen, throw your spear and ask questions later. |
